Artisans Collective CIC and Men’s Shed in Prestatyn.
I am proud to be a director of Visit Artisans Collective CIC website aka “The Artisans” and to also be involved with Visit Prestatyn Men’s shed website. Both in my opinion are great community organisations based on the North Wales Coast.
Currently both organisations are based at The Old Library Art, Craft and Heritage Centre in Prestatyn.
During the course of 2016 Men’s Shed could be moving into new premises, still here in Prestatyn.
This is due to the generosity and community minded spirit of a well known local family who are the proprietors of Morris’s Stores Mower Centre in Rhuddlan.
Meanwhile Artisans Collective are based at The Old Library for the foreseeable future.
We are constantly developing our offering. Having started as primarily a sales outlet for local craftspeople, artists and micro-businesses, we have now also developed into a community hub.
Now we also offer a diverse range of activities such as Informal Art Groups, Childrens Art and Craft Workshops, Crochet for Beginners through to Stop Smoking sessions.
During 2014 and 2015 we are proud to have been awarded Prestatyn and Meliden Community group awards by our Mayor’s each year.
It was fantastic to get involved during 2015 with so many other local events and organisations as well as a number of national ones.
- Prestatyn Flower show
- Prestatyn Classic Car show
- Men’s Sheds Cymru
- Stop Smoking Wales
- Walkers Are Welcome
- Grow Wild
- Incredible Edible
- Voluntary Arts Week
- Principality Building Society supporting the St David’s Day event
- Prestatyn Town Council Events including hosting the Christmas grotto
- Wales In Bloom
- Healthy High Streets including a ministerial visit.
- Great British High Street Awards
- The Daily Post Awards
The BBC TV and ITV have featured us a number of times and we have appeared in the Daily Post and the Rhyl Journal numerous times.
Aimee’s Art group were proud to be asked by our mayor to provide the artistic content for the Prestatyn and Meliden Mayoral Calendar 2016 and Christmas cards.
We also hosted some of the Ty Nant Site development brief consultations for Denbighshire County Council at the Old Library.
Not all of the events we attended were centred at the Old Library we also attended the Prestatyn Town Council Romans Return event at Bastion Road, home of Prestatyn Town Football Club. We also attended a medieval day at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park Nr Holywell.
So looking back on 2015 we had a busy year, and I reckon that 2016 will be just as dynamic.
